For Kids and Families

Want to Get Involved With WSWC as a Family?

Whether you are looking to complete a DIY project with the kids or wanting to support us through donations, here are some ideas to help you get started! Have additional wildlife activities you like to do as a family? Share your ideas with us.

Build Nest Boxes

If you are handy with tools, you can help us provide shelter for patients and animals at the time of release. Nest boxes are also a great way to attract native wildlife to your backyard! Check out a variety of nest box plans here.

Hold a Donation Drive

Get your friends, family and groups involved by holding a donation drive! We always keep our wish list up to date on the greatest needs of the wildlife center. You can find our wish list here. Contact us to schedule a time to drop off donations.

Forage for Wild Foods

Our patients thrive on a natural diet like they would eat in the wild. You can help us collect much needed greens, nuts and fruits to help feed our patients. Please contact us to understand our greatest needs and to make sure we have the space to store your collected food items. Visit Wild Foods 4 Wildlife to find different delicacies and learn how to forage ethically.

Grow a Wildlife Garden

We use a variety of greens, fruits and vegetables to feed our patients. You can plant a garden in your own backyard to help us reduce our grocery store bills. Native plants work best. Don’t forget to plant a little extra for the critters around you!

Start a Mealworm Farm

Mealworms and other insects are an important part of our wildlife’s diets. You can start your own mealworm farm at home to raise these harmless insects to help feed our patients.
