What To Do When You Find Sick, Injured or Orphaned Wildlife

THANK YOU for helping the wild animal(s) you found! Through a combination of personal experience, knowledge of wildlife natural history and professional resources, we have broken down several common scenarios of what you should do when coming across a sick, injured or orphaned wild animal. As a wildlife rehabilitator in York County, PA, we can only accept wildlife from Pennsylvania according to state laws and regulations.

Remember: It is illegal to keep and raise wildlife!

If the Animal You Find:

  • Is bleeding or has obvious broken bones

  • Has been hit by a car

  • Has been in a dog or cat’s mouth

  • Has numerous parasites, including fly eggs (look like grains of rice)
